I'm Going to Do iT!

OKay, so I'm finally going to do it!

I've wanted to do it for years now, but there were always reasons or excuses why I shouldn't/couldn't.

*What kind of example would I be making?
*What will my Mother in Law or Grandma say?
*Will I look like I'm flaking out?
*Is it okay for a mother of five to have one?

Forget all that! I like it so I'm going to do it. I think it looks very feminine and attractive.

Sometime in the next two weeks I want to get it done.

We almost got it done on our date the other night, but I decided that I wanted to go with a girlfriend instead.

So, which one of you will go with me?

Date Update

Sorry the update has taken so long. It's been so very very busy here at the Wilson home. (That's why we needed the date in the first place.)

Let me tell you that it was the perfect date! Thank you both Cherith and Jennifer! I took your advice! It was just what we needed. Usually our dates are filled and packed with things we can do without kids. We usually eat at a places without ball pits, and then we go to see movies that don't involve talking pigs or we shop for things that don't come in primary colors. I enjoy doing those usual things, but it was so nice to go on a date and not do them this time.

Before Randy got home I snuck some blankets and pillows in the back of the Suburban. When we left we drove over to my favorite bakery and when we got there I told him that I would pick him out a dessert and then he could pick me out one. It was so nice to see that we both picked out the perfect one for each other. Even that simple sugary thing made the night more perfect. Then we stopped at a chicken drive through and picked up something from the window. We were laughing because as we were getting closer the chicken place Randy said, "Oh, you're taking me to Church's Chicken. How nice." He was being sarcastic, but when he found out that I really was taking him there we had a good laugh.
So, we got our food and we went to the park on Ambler. Thank you Jennifer! It was the perfect place. We ate our food at the picnic table. It was yummy and relaxing. Then I went to the car and I grabbed our blankets and pillows. When Randy saw the pillows he fell in love with me all over again. He's been working so hard with Aaron this week that he's been really tired. I carried the blankets and pillows to one secluded area with plush grass and laid the blankets out. I couldn't have picked a more perfect spot! We laid down and the whole world felt perfect. The air was so fresh, the nature noises were enchanting, the temperature was perfect, the grass was comfortable. We talked for a little while and we actually got to see the sun set behind some trees. Randy dozed off and had a wonderful nap. I had taken along some playing cards, but he just wanted to rest. I wish I had taken a book, but I wasn't bored. I just laid down and enjoyed being outside. I was overwhelmingly thankful for how peaceful everything was going.
We had a good rest there until the mosquitoes decided it was dinner time. We packed up our blankets and went to the car. I had planned for us to go to the coffee shop after that, but neither of us wanted any coffee so we decided to go play Putt Putt instead. I had not played Putt Putt in years until just the other night on my date with Becky. We laughed a lot there.
When we left we stopped by the movie store before going home, and rented a fantastic movie. It's called A Good Year. I totally recommend seeing it! We both loved it.

Anyway, the whole evening was perfect! I loved everything about it.

Slap Stick Comedy

Spencer and I were riding in the car alone the other day when he very seriously said to me, "I don't pick my nose and eat my boogers anymore. Now I just pick my nose when it's stuffed up." I said, "Oh, yeah, that's good." Then he said, "But not the girls. They think it's Fast Food!"

Help me.

Okay, I need some ideas. Tonight I'm going on a date with my baby's daddy, and I don't want to do the same ol' thing. (dinner and a movie) He has requested that I take him on a date, arrange for babysitting and surprise him with a good evening. He's never requested such a thing before so he must really need it. We've been promised a busy busy busy busy rest of the week so he wants some alone time with me tonight. I've already got babysitting. I just need a good plan.

His Mom will come over @ 6:30, and the latest we can be out is 10:00, but probably 9:00 because she doesn't like to get my kids to bed. So, without a lot of time I'm having trouble thinking of something fun. Also, $40 or less would be nice. That's almost half of my weeks budget for such things.

Impress me.

On Mozart and Martha Stewart

Here’s something of interest to read. I thought it would fit in nicely with this group. I found it a bit inspiring. It’s in the book The Journey of Desire (pgs 152-154). It’s shortened obviously. John Eldredge is the author. Enjoy you creative and lovely people.

Somehow, “notes Os Guinness, “we human beings are never happier than when we are expressing the deepest gifts that are truly us.” Now, some children are gifted toward science, and others are born athletes. But whatever their specialty, all children are inherently creative. Give them a barrel of Legos and a free afternoon and my boys will produce an endless variety of spaceships and fortresses and who knows what. It comes naturally to children; it’s in their nature, their design as little image bearers. A pack of boys let loose in a wood soon becomes a major Civil War reenactment. A chorus of girls, upon discovering a trunk of skirts and dresses, will burst into the Nutcracker Suite. The right opportunity reveals the creative nature.
This is precisely what happens when God shares with mankind his own artistic capacity and then sets us down in a paradise of unlimited potential. It is an at of creative invitation, like providing Monet with a studio for the summer, stocked full of brushes and oils and empty canvases. Or like setting Martha Stewart loose in a gourmet kitchen on a snowy winter weekend, just before the holidays. You needn’t provide instructions or motivation; all you have to do is release them to be who they are, and remarkable things will result. As the poet Hopkins wrote, “What I do is me: for what I came.”
Oh, how we long for this-for a great endeavor that draws upon every faculty, a great “life’s work” that we could throw ourselves into. “God has created us and out gifts for a place of his choosing, “says Guinness, “and we will only be ourselves when we are finally there.” Our creative nature is essential to who we are as human beings-as image bearers-and it brings us great joy to live out with freedom and skill. Even if it’s the simple act like working on your photo albums or puttering around in the garden-these too, are how we have a taste of what was meant to rule over a small part of God’s great kingdom.

So go today and create! I’m going to go to the grocery store and be creative and paint my cart with all kinds of healthy foods, shampoo, a new shirt and maybe a little something for my Secret Sister.

Miles is Famous!

"If you get your face in the pape then you're famous!" -Jackie Boy in The NEWSIES

Miles was in the paper today! He had horse therapy yesterday and they took these photos of Miles. So cute! (He's the small one.)

Rare

A picture of me.
A real picture of me.
There's no one else in the photo.
My eyes aren't half way shut.
I don't have spit up on my shirt.
I do have on makeup.
I did have to take it myself, but still...it's a real picture of me.

My Little Entrepreneurs

Yesterday we were at my Mom’s house and Spencer had a great idea. He started collecting acorns so he could paint them and then sell them for 50 cents each. I told him that was a great idea. Before we left he had a whole glove full of acorns. On the way home Joey had the idea of painting puzzle pieces and selling them. When we got home Randy and I got the girls and Miles down for a nap, and we told the boys they could paint their stuff while the rest of us napped. When we woke up they had paint on their face, and lots of painted wares. They even made signs. I was glad to see the price went down to 25 cents. I’m so proud of their work. Since yesterday they’ve already sold a few. If Spencer were telling you this story he would make sure to add that Melody was very upset because she didn’t have any money to buy an acorn so he gave her the prettiest one for free.
WARNING: If you come to my house…bring quarters.

I'm blessed going in and coming out!

I just had to send a Shout Out to my Shampoo manufacturer!

I was taking a shower and I noticed a special blessing that was given to me.

I have some Garnier Fructis shampoo that has nutritive fruit micro-oils. It really is a fortifying shampoo. If that's not enough it also sleeks and shines my hair! It's has 17.3 fluid ounces to help my frizzy, dry or unmanageable hair.

Guess what this great shampoo did for me! IT GAVE ME 33% MORE FOR FREE! Can you believe that? I am highly favored. Please don't be jealous.

Can you find yourself?

Isn't this picture amazing?
Holli gave me a wonderful scrapbook for Christmas with several pages already done. One of the pages had this picture in it. I love it so much! The only thing I remember about that day is that one lady in the picture that I don't know...her daughter got her head stuck in the bars at the hyena cage. funny.

Anyway, several of you are in the picture so I thought you would enjoy the blast from the past.

I love Holli so much! I miss her being so close. She came over Sunday on the way to San Antonio. I will have to post a picture soon of all our kids together. Her kids are really growing up. They are so sweet natured. I love being around them. Anyway, we had a great time. She always asks about several of you. (I make stuff up). Just kidding. Enjoy the picture.

No husband.
Throw up.
Fever.
Coughing.
Kids home all day.
Crying kids at all hours of the night.
Allergic reaction to medication.
So frazzled I slept on the floor last night.
Money to spend, but kids too sick to take to spend it.

spring BREAK? I think not.

No church for me today.

Well, I wasn't just skipping church today to sleep in. Last night Jocie threw up all night long. Luckily, she's good about making it to the toilet so there wasn't a whole lot of cleaning up to go along with the waking up. I can't tell you how strange it is to be at home on a Sunday morning. I really don't know what to do with myself.
This morning when I told Jocie that we weren't going to church because of her yucky stomach she said, "Oh, okay. I will tell Miss Krissy." She was acting like she had to call in to children's church to tell her teacher she wasn't going to make it. I thought that was cute.

Fav Holiday Treat?

QUESTION:

What is your favorite holiday food treat? Any holiday.

For example: I love Cadbury Bunny Eggs at Easter. I bought one the other day, and it was delish, but I'm going to try to stay away from them for the rest of the Easter season.

Randy loves pumpkin pie during Thanksgiving. I make several for him during October/November and he eats the whole thing by himself.

My sister in law also loves Cadbury Bunny Eggs. She actually freezes them so she can have them all year. She's skinny too...this makes no sense to me.

Thank You Gail

Here is an amazing picture of our family that my dear friend Gail drew of us! She gave it to me yesterday at church, and I haven't been able to think of much else since then. Today I went to Kinkos and got copies made. The one that she gave me is huge! I'm going tonight to get it framed. I'm so excited! It made me feel so loved! Her talent boggles my mind! This drawing is one of my most prized possessions! Hey, does anyone know something that Gail would LOVE for a thank you gift?

Weight Loss

Today was my annual “womanly” appointment. Don’t worry guys….I’m not talking about girly stuff on this post!

We all know how that’s a dreaded appointment. I don’t have to elaborate on the details.

What I really wanted to talk to Dr. Ward about during the appointment was how I’ve been working on loosing weight for 3 months now without a lot of results. (As you will be able to tell on the upcoming weigh in.) He started talking to me about weight loss and then he asked me how tall I was. I told him. Then he asked me how much I weighed. I told him. When I said how much I weighed his eyes got huge and said, “WHOA!”
I’M NOT KIDDING! It’s every woman’s worse nightmare! Strangely, he was so animated that I didn’t get offended. I was surprised at his response, but I just thought, “Yeah, that’s my thoughts too!” Thank the Lord that I have a good attitude! You know, I’m sitting there without my clothes…just a sheet draped over me when I told him how much I weighed. What? Did he think the minute before that I weighed 120?
So, I endured the offensive reaction to gain some great wisdom from him. He asked me how I put on all the weight and I said, “Well, I have some self control issues, and a lot of stress with Miles.” Once I said that I had some self control issues his whole attitude changed towards me. Since I took responsibility for my actions he totally wanted to help me! He was talking to me about how a lot of women talk to him about weight issues, but they seem shocked and confused about how the weight got upon their bodies. He said, “Calories don’t attack anyone in their sleep!”
He was so encouraging to me! He kept telling me how I can handle a lot, and that I have what it takes to loose the weight. He talked about how I’m a great Mom to have 5 children and manage them, Miles, and with my husband owning his own business. He said that he wants to help me. He gave me a prescription to help give me energy and curb my appetite. I’m saying this because I didn’t want to sneak around anyone’s back. I feel really good about it. I have so much to loose. I really do need the help. I feel so discouraged at how much weight I have to loose. I think taking the medicine will help me get a good start. Also, he put me on a 1,200 calorie diet. WOW. I’ve never counted calories before, but 1,200 doesn’t seem like a lot.
I will see him monthly. He told me, “I know you can do this, and I will tell you now…I don’t like failure.” I told him that I didn’t either so I think we will make a good team.
I was really intimated about talking to him about these things today, but it worked out so well. I hope I’m not disappointing any of you by taking medication to help with my weight loss, but I have a long way to go so I need some help. Even while taking the medication I have to eat right or it won’t help. So, I still have to use self control. It will just help me.
I’m excited. Dr. Ward is an OB doctor, but he’s also my regular physician. He was excited about helping me loose weight. I think I’m going to be his pet project. He probably gets bored with the pregnant ladies all day. He has always called me his frequent customer (Five kids remember). I think that’s why he’s happy to help me loose this weight.
Anyway, be happy for me.

Happy Things

Pressed through...had life group.

It was fantastic. There was 28 people here. Several new people. Incredible worship. Joey picked the songs tonight. Wouldn't you know he picked "Bless the Lord". I made my soul bless the Lord for his goodness, for his favor, for his wisdom, and it felt good. There were a million kids here and I loved it.

Here's another thing that is awesome: Miles has been laughing and smiling and interacting like I've never seen him do before. Ask Rachel or Krissy for details. His body looks great. He's laughing. He's so happy. I love it! Tonight he was making everyone full of joy. During prayer Rose was thanking God for all the progress she sees in Miles. Tonight I was singing a song loud to him and making him claps his own hands. He was laughing so hard he turned beet red! He had to catch his breath he was laughing so hard. Also, he's been making a ton of noises. I can hear him right now rooms away, and it makes my heart so light and happy. Tonight for the first time ever Spencer is spending the night in Miles room with him. Spencer always wants to sleep with Miles, but we never let him. Tonight we told Spencer he could and his whole face lit up. This evening Spencer was holding Miles and he was telling him that he knew that Miles was going to be fighting with him soon, and playing his X-Box. Spencer just knows it. Spencer was telling me that he prays for Miles everyday. This morning he went to Miles room and prayed for him before he went to school, and then he also had the kids in his class pray for Miles again today. Spencer's teacher told me that they all pray for Miles every single day. What a pair those two are.

No Good Title

I’ve never felt this one before.

I was putting on my make-up and trying to get to a place of peace with the Lord. I asked him, “Where are you.” I’ve been upset about Sunday. Wounded is a better word than upset. Anyway, I haven’t felt comforted by the Lord. I haven’t felt rebuked by the Lord. I haven’t felt compassion from the Lord. I’ve felt nothing. As I was sitting there doing my make-up I was trying to figure out what this familiar yet unfamiliar feeling I was having towards the Lord. Then it hit me.
I feel like I need to FORGIVE the Lord for not restoring Miles Sunday night.
When there are people in my life that I need to forgive I have a heaviness on my heart that I know I need to release. This is fairly easy for me to do. Once I release that person then the heaviness is gone. Anyway, when I recognized this heaviness as the forgiveness heaviness I was a little shocked!
Is feeling like I need to forgive God for not restoring Miles blasphemy?
I feel so hurt and disappointed in my God for Miles not walking out of church on Sunday evening. Right now as I write this I have a physical pulsing pain in my chest. It’s pulsing in brokenness.
Can I say, “Lord, I forgive you for not restoring Miles yet”? Is that right on any level? I have no idea. I’ve never felt like this before.

Need Favor!

Hey, please pray for me on my new adventure! I'm selling one of Randy's houses. The ad will come out this Thursday, and I will be showing it. The whole thing is my job, and I've never sold a house before! I'm excited! I'm really excited because I get to keep the money from the sell! He's paying me 5% of the sell. I need favor and wisdom! I plan on using the money for a family vacation to the beach this summer. I really want to sell this thing quickly! I'm about to go put a sign in the yard. Then, I'm going to go to Wells Fargo so I can have a few Pre Approval forms on hand for interested buyers. I've already placed the ad, and I've also made me an awesome folder that has all the information that a buyer might ask. I want this deal to prosper our family!

Papel Higienico Sin Perfume (Unscented Bathroom Tissue)

How much toilet paper does your family use in a week?

Funny question I know, but it’s kind of interesting.
I go back and forth on what kind of toilet paper I buy. I also go back and forth on buying small packages and bulk packages. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the seasons of toilet paper purchases, except for that I also have to buy the stuff.

Right now I’m buying the cheap Angel Soft regular rolls. I have to buy 2 packages (8 rolls) a week. I also like to buy the Double rolls of Cottenelle with Aloe, but that gets to be pricey. Plus, I don’t have a lot of storage places for extra TP so the small rolls are handy.

We have 7 people in our family. Miles doesn’t use the potty so that’s 6 people using the toilet paper. Plus, we have Christy in our house 40 hours so she counts as a regular TP user. Then, we also have life group in our home every week so on Wednesday nights we have up to 25 people here and I know a lot of them visit the restroom while they are here.
So for all those people it adds up to 792 Square Feet a week. That’s 3,168 square feet monthly. That’s 41,184 square feet of toilet paper a year for our family alone!

Now, when you answer on how much Toilet Paper your family uses every week you have to answer in square feet because every brand is different. If it’s by square feet then we won’t have to account for regular, double or triple rolls. You can find out the square footage on the package.

When Randy heard how many square feet of toilet paper our family uses weekly (being the home builder that he is) figured out that: How ever many square feet of TP you use weekly times 3 equals the amount of square feet you need in a house. _____X3=sq ft house you need.

So, I don’t know what made me think about this, but I’m sure glad that I have somewhere to release these strange observations of mine.

Joey & Star Wars Trivia

Joey and his friend is really into Star Wars right now. Joey begged us last night to rent a Star Wars movie. Randy took him into the store and he rented Episode IV. Well, this morning the very first thing he talked to me about was more Star Wars trivia. He was asking me if I knew about Jobba the Hut's previous relationship with Hons Solo. I did not. Then he was talking to me about different languages that they speak and things like that. Next came words like Rebels, Empires, Troops, Droids, Jedi's until I was almost glazed over with facts when he asked me very seriously, "Why does Princess Leya's hair look like two big cinnamon buns?"

Finally, something I can understand!
